Massive Return

09:14 AM, Friday 7/7/06 Add |   |

Massive Attack has announced its first North American tour since 1998, with 19 dates booked across the U.S. and Canada.

The group will land at Toronto's Virgin Festival September 10, hitting theatres in Montreal, Chicago and more in the following days. The itinerary includes a slot at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas September 16, along with two gigs at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

The tour will finish with a three-night stand at New York City's Roseland October 3-5.

Massive Attack visited the West Coast this spring, making an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival with vocals from Horace Andy and Elizabeth Fraser in what has been described as a "sneak peek" of the band's live show. The group also played Seattle's Paramount Theatre.

Founding members Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall have been working with producer Neil Davidge on the group's fifth studio album, Weather Underground. They're not likely to get much work done this summer, though, with dates booked throughout Europe in addition to an appearance at Japan's two-city Summer Sonic festival.

Massive Attack's first greatest-hits album, the two-disc Collected, was released earlier this year.
