A Farewell To Ministry

04:30 AM, Wednesday 11/14/07 Add |   |

Industrial pioneers Ministry have announced they'll hit the road for what will be their last world tour in support their final studio release, The Last Sucker.

The band will launch the North American leg of its C U LaTouR March 28 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver and, so far, is scheduled to hit theatres and clubs across the U.S. and Canada through early May, before wrapping up at House of Blues in frontman Al Jourgensen's home town of Chicago May 8.

Stops include Roseland Theatre in Portland, Ore. (March 30), House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif. (April 5-6), The Great Saltair in Magna, Utah (April 11), La Zona Rosa in Austin (April 15), Jannus Landing in Saint Petersburgh, Fla. (April 22), Rams Head Live! in Baltimore (April 26), the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza in New York City (May 1-2), Kool Haus in Toronto (May 4) and the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens, Mich. (May 7).

Additional dates are expected.

Main support for the trek is Swedish experimental metal band Meshuggah, while opening duties will be handled by Las Vegas rockers Hemlock.

Presale tickets go on sale November 15 at www.ministry.tickets.musictoday.com. VIP packages, which feature early entry, premium seating, a meet and greet and a souvenir gift bag, will also be available during presale.

The C U LaTour lineup features Ministry founder Al Jourgensen, guitarists Tommy Victor (Prong) and Sin Quirin (Revolting Cocks), keyboardist John Bechdel (Prong, AoTW, False Icons) and drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Alice Cooper). Static-X's Tony Campos will step to take the place of late Ministry/Killing Joke bassist Paul Raven and special featured artist for the tour is Fear Factory/Ascension of The Watchers vocalist Burton C. Bell.

Jourgensen promises a two-and-a-half hour set filled with songs from The Last Sucker, Ministry hits and some surprises.

"A Ministry tour is a traveling circus," Jourgensen said. "When we roll into town, everyone hides their daughters, but the freaks roll out the red carpet and a friend or two pops up on stage to add some spice and mayhem to the show."
