The Closing Bell

05:01 PM, Tuesday 4/29/08 Add |   |

While most of the country closed up shop hours ago, we've been working hard to track down new listings for the Honda Civic Tour, the Sarnia Bayfest, the Hard Summer Festival, and Jeff & Vida.

Plus, we dug up some nifty news items on Morrissey, a Pakistani concert, Clear Channel's eRockster, an iTunes anniversary and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Overnight Sensation …

A crack team of Pollstar writers (or is that cracked?) has been slaving away all day to bring you the following items with your morning tea. Please read them or we'll never hear the end of it.

Forecastle Festival Lineup Arrives - Disco Biscuits, Method Man, Del McCoury Band and many others sign on for the Louiville, Ky., event.

Dengue Fever Fever Spreads Worldwide - The Cambodian-American rockers unveil an extensive summer itinerary.

Link-O-Rama …

Moz steps in to help save a 30-year-old tradition in London's Victoria Park. - Guardian

Hundreds of Pakistanis turn out in Islamabad to prove you can't keep music down. - The Hindu

Just what we need, another multi-genre music festival. Oh, wait. This one's free! - New York Post

For five years, the iTunes store has been providing fans with music - and a little buyer's remorse. - PC World

The Country Music Hall of fame inducts some new members. - CMT

Dates, Dates & More Dates …

The Honda Civic Tour, featuring headliners Panic at the Disco, has added a couple more stops to its schedule: Grand Rapids, Mich., and West Des Moines, Iowa.

Hard returns to Los Angeles July 19 for a summer festival at Shine Expo Center featuring N.E.R.D., MSTRKRFT, Spank Rock, Kid Sister and more.

Centennial Park in downtown Sarnia, Ontario will play host to Bon Jovi, Fergie, Motley Crue, The Black Crowes, Rascal Flatts, Big & Rich and Emerson Drive July 6 and 9-13 during Sarnia Bayfest.

And last but by no means least, acoustic duo Jeff & Vida just unloaded a boatload of new dates on our docks, with stops including New Orleans; Augusta, Ga.; Knoxville and Crawford, Tenn.; Nashville; Highbridge, N.J.; Brooklyn and Governor's Island, N.Y.; and New York City.

What a day it's been. We updated itineraries and lineups for The Spill Canvas, Kid Rock, Johnny Winter, The Brakes, The Black Angels, Steve Coffey, Paradigm, Lonnie Brooks, KT Tunstall, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Acoustic Alchemy, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, VHS or Beta, Melissa Etheridge, Stanton Moore, Chris Isaak, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Adrian Belew, Egypt Central, GWAR, Kelly Richey, Gym Class Heroes, Mark Knopfler, Papa Grows Funk, Rosie Ledet, Sybris, Zappa Plays Zappa and lots more. And what do we ask for in return? Nada. Well, actually you could call or write once in a while.

Okay, that was kinda creepy. Before we start sounding even more like our mothers, we're hitting the bricks. But fear not, we'll be back on the job bright and early tomorrow to bring you another day filled with surprises 'cuz that's how we roll.
