The inaugural all-ages, all-day fest, which will showcase bands in a variety of non-traditional spaces such as buses, sidewalks, parks, courtyards, alleys and building lobbies, will also hit more prominent venues including local museums and City Hall June 21.
While Grammy Award nominees and platinum recording artists will grace the main stage, more than 300 concerts have been planned for the festival, much of which will be dedicated to homegrown and emerging performers such as the Los Angeles Children's Choir, the Safety Girls, Everest, Division Day, The Little Ones, Jessica Hoop and Meiko.
Make Music Pasadena is the West coast premier of an international music movement, Fête de la Musique, which takes place in more than 300 cities, 108 countries and five continents each year on World Music Day (June 21).
Presented in part by "Levitt Pavilions Free Music Across America" and local public radio station KCRW 89.9 FM, Make Music Pasadena will serve as a kick-off for free music performances in the region, which will continue throughout the summer at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena and MacArthur Park in Los Angeles.
