Tilly Taps Across America

03:03 AM, Friday 6/20/08 Add |   |

Tilly and the Wall tap-dances its way across North America with The Ruby Suns this summer in support of its third album, O, with its breakout single "Pot Kettle Black."

The Omaha, Neb.-based band, which features Jamie Pressnal on tap shoes rather than drums, formed in 2001 after the demise of Conor Oberst's Park Avenue.

Two of its members joined after the split, and the rest of the group comes from the town's music scene. Keyboardist Nick White can still be found touring regularly with Oberst's Bright Eyes.

The tour kicks off July 2nd in Salt Lake City and visits primary and secondary markets through August 7, when it returns home for a gig at Omaha's Sokol Auditorium.

Their first release, Woo!, was recorded in Oberst's garage, self-published, and distributed at shows around the Omaha area. The group released a limited-pressing eponymous EP on Rue Royale Records, followed by their long play debut, Wild Like Children in 2004.

It was reportedly the inaugural release on Oberst's Team Love label and garnered the band substantial critical acclaim, leading tours with Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley and Of Montreal.
