Morning Becomes Magnetic

03:07 AM, Wednesday 7/16/08 Add |   |

Interpol's Sam Fogarino and Swervedriver's Adam Franklin have joined forces to create a new side-project dubbed Magnetic Morning.

The pair met through a journalist friend and discovered they had a mutual admiration for each other's music.

Don't expect to hear "screeching distortion or three-guitar jams a la Swervedriver" or the "buttoned-up rock" of Interpol though.

Fogarino and Franklin describe the band's music as "full of lilting, dream-pop soundscapes."

"When we first worked together we had no real idea of what things would sound like or what direction it would take," Franklin explains. "But very quickly an overall sound and style aesthetic developed, which I can't quite specify; but there's a kind of melancholic, reflective, walking-off-into-the-sunset side to it."

The duo will follow a self-titled five-song EP released earlier this year with a full-length disc scheduled to be recorded this August in Athens, Ga.

Fans can catch MM live beginning October 15 at Caledonia Lounge in Athens, Ga., as well as at stops including Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and Atlanta.

Additional dates are expected.
