K.D. Becomes Eclectic

03:08 AM, Friday 8/15/08 Add |   |

KCRW's "A Sounds Eclectic Evening" is set for the Gibson Amphitheatre October 12. Gosh, do you think Nic Harcourt will make an appearance?

Of course.

Harcourt, certainly one of the few champions of quality music left on the radio, has made a career of introducing SoCal to acts like Arcade Fire, The Shins, Joss Stone and My Morning Jacket with in-studio performances. The annual Eclectic Evening concert has included Elliott Smith, Gary Jules, Jurassic 5, Damien Rice and Thievery Corporation.

This time it's k.d. lang, the U.K.'s The Duke Spirit and Argentine-Uruguayan collective Bajofondo, but the lineup is still gelling. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming months. The show is also known for special surprise guests.

As always, this year's concert will benefit the Santa Monica-based radio station.

KCRW members can buy their tickets August 22 and the general public get a shot September 4. Platinum ticket holders get premium seating and a backstage party for $325 while, on the other end of the scale, reserved seats are going for as low as $40.

Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com or by paying a personal visit to the Gibson Amphitheatre box office.
