This Dungen Isn't Damp Or Scary

03:11 AM, Friday 10/17/08 Add |   |

Eclectic Swedish rock outfit Dungen is hitting the road later this month in support of its fourth release, the cleverly titled 4.

Frontman Gustav Ejstes and the gang kick off their U.S. sojourn October 24 at the Kemado Records showcase (with Marissa Nadler and TK Webb) at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, N.Y., and wind their way across the country (with one Canadian stop thrown in for good measure) through mid-November.

Lucky folks in the band's travel plans include Maxwell's in Hoboken, N.J. (October 27), The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto (October 31), The Bottom Lounge in Chicago (November 2), Chop Suey in Seattle (November 7), Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco (November 10) and Echo in Los Angeles (November 12).

Tickets for some shows are available at Ticketmaster.com.

4, which was released last month, finds Dungen moving beyond the psychedelic rock sound the band has become known for with "blazing, raw guitar workouts," as well as "stirringly orchestrated, jazz-cooled compositions with cinematic overtones."

New drummer Johan Holmegard joins guitarist Reine Fiske and bassist Mattias Gustavsson, while Ejstes steps away from guitar for the entire album, focusing on the piano as his lead instrument on tracks like "Det Tar Tid," "Mina Damer och Fasaner" and "Sätt At Se."

But don't take our word for it. Have a listen to "Sätt At Se" on us.
