Welcome Beta Testers!

09:42 AM, Monday 11/24/08 93 |   |

Man, oh, man are we glad to see you. We’ve been working on our new home for over a year, and it’s almost ready for its worldwide close-up. That is, as soon as the new Pollstar.com meets your approval.

626603

A Web site makeover is much like moving into a new home. Sure, the plumbing worked when you walked through the place with the realtor. The lights were fine, the door locks secure, even the garage door remote-control opened and closed on demand.

But you know how it goes. You move in and soon discover you can’t run the Jacuzzi and the washing machine at the same time you’re watering the front lawn, running the dishwasher and blasting the stereo through those industrial-strength speakers you found on eBay last summer.

That's why we need heavy-duty, cruisin’-for-a-bruisin’ beta testers to run this site through its paces. In other words, WE NEED YOU!

Go ahead! Kick the tires, slam the doors and check out features like the 3-D Photo Wall. Sure, everything works from where we sit, but it needs to work from where you’re perched.

And don’t be afraid to leave a little something in the comment threads. That’s what they’re there for. Your view on bands, concerts, ticket prices, venues and everything else in the concert universe. You got something to say?  Here’s your chance.

The new Pollstar.com has been a long time coming. And we won’t lie to you. It wasn’t an easy upgrade. Tempers sometimes flared, feelings were bruised and blood was spilled. But we believe the old adage about what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger was originally written with Web site makeovers in mind. And we don’t mind telling you we feel like Clark Kent on a good day. A very good day.

But we need you to throw some kryptonite at us. Heck, get downright brutal with us. Not only can we take it, but some of us are even looking forward to it. Because we know only you can certify the new Pollstar.com ready for worldwide Web approval. So, get busy!

Looks really good. A couple things, though:

    - First and most importantly, where can I find a list of all the artists presently on my AutoNotify list?

    - The "Help!" and "FAQ" links go to a page that is basically "about pollstar" and not actually help or FAQs.

Indeed, looks good in the first 218 seconds of my visit.  The catcha image didn't work when I first visited the MyPollstar registration if that's any help.

Ditt on both the above comments

Great upgrade.  Would prefer the notify list includes only shows in the range I'm willing to travel for a concert.

Also, in the old Pollstar, I could list preferrred venues, as well as artists.  Can I still do that?

Upcoming concerts for selected artists/venues as an RSS feed would rock.

Yeah, I'd like to know where my existing Auto Notify list is... I have to say, as a previous Premium user, I was VERY sad to see my list of 99 go away.  And if it's completely gone now, it'll be really sad.

    Also, what is a Hotstar??

The ability to read more than 5 posts at a time is crucial.

    1. Layout of profile panel in Firefox has issues (e.g., the state box is partially hidden, the city box isn't even visible).

    2. I'd like to view my auto-notify artists grouped by artists instead of by date.

    3. I'd really like to be able to have more than 10 artists on my notify list, even if you just bump it to 20.  (I miss my premium account. :( )

    4. The light blue font on the grey background (e.g., when I look at listings for my city) is hard to read.

It seems like the site gets a little overloaded. When I was looking at artist pictures and went to leave a comment, here is the message I get:

Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too.

Good site, lots of info... Having trouble finding "my venues and artists".....

Like the photo section. Not the easiest in the world to navigate, but probably because there is so much information out there.

I also think that a "tutorial" option would be great to walk you through some of the new features of the website. The FAQ section doesn't answer anything.....

Looks great, but the important question is whether you're going to restore our ability to track more than a handful of artists.

it would be great if the notify list only included shows in the range I'm willing to travel for a concert.  I would also like a view of favorite venues, as well as artists.  Last, how do I remove artists from the auto notify list?
