Who’s In Your Hall Of Fame?

12:01 AM, Thursday 1/15/09 26 |   |

What do you think about Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Metallica and Run-DMC making the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

  • Metallica

Metallica, Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, Calif.
    December 12, 2008

All of the above are listed on the Hall’s Web site as being “performer inductees” while Wanda Jackson is listed in the Early Influence Category and Bill Black, DJ Fontana and Spooner Oldham are included on the Sideman Category list.

Now, it's your turn.  Mull over the list of new inductees, and while you're at it, review the complete list of inductees from years past and then tell us who you think should be included (and excluded) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Putting Run-DMC into the Rock Hall of Fame is like putting John Elway into the Baseball hall of fame. Makes no sense at all.

How about real rockers like Kiss,Ted Nugent, & Foghat

Run-DMC does make sense. Without them, Aerosmith disappears into  herion fueled obscurity. But that simple collaboration, along with Anthrax/Public Enemy and Sir Mix-a-lot/Metal Church help inspire a whole new genre. But if your arguement is that they are not "Rock n' Roll" then lets remove Bob Marley, Grand Master Flash, Myles Davis, Prince, and nearly the whole induction class of 1987 that included B.B. King, Marvin Gaye, Muddy Waters, and Aretha Franklin. I think overall influence supercedes genre.

The real question is do Little Anthony and the Imperial, and Bobby Womack really "chops" that Run-DMC, Metallica, and Jeff Beck have?

What is the board thinking? Nothing against some of these selections, but where is Yes, Genesis, Moody Blues, Peter Gabriel, Kiss, I mean the list is long and plentiful for acts that have long past the criteria to be Hall of Famers. What's Run DMC got over the J Geils Band?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke....always has been.  It's just a political institution.  No one goes their except bus tours and people who find Graceland interesting

"Mull over the list of new inductees" and Jeff beck with a Mullet in the photo, hilarious, thanks Pollstar!

I don't like Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, don't like the concept, a bands music bonds to a person in a very personal way.  Who is to say this band or that band should be inducted, it doesn't matter, what does matter is how you feel after listening to one of your favorite artists.

Music is emotion, not a contest!

It's about time Wanda gets in. Now let's see when Link Wray,  Dale and Alice Cooper get in.

To the post below, Queen was inducted in 2001, they are not "missing" from the RocknRoll Hall. I agree KISS and Alice Cooper should be inducted - there's always next year. As for "worst list" how are Steely Dan or Jackson Browne not worthy? Fine artists, I'm glad they are in. I think the following should be in:

    1} RUSH

    2} The Moody Blues

    3} YES

    4} Styx

    5} Supertramp

    6} Boston

    7} Steve Miller Band

    8} Scorpions

    9} Jim Croce

    10} Gordon Lightfoot

JUST TO NAME A FEW !
