A Pissy Time At Metallica Show

Posted on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at 04:02 AM 6 |

A Brewster, Mass., police officer is reportedly on administrative leave after being ejected from Metallica’s Jan. 18 concert at TD Banknorth Garden for allegedly urinating on a concertgoer and then fighting with security guards to get back in.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police said Officer Joseph Houston has been charged with trespassing following the incident. He could face a $100 fine and/or 30 days in jail.

Houston allegedly appeared drunk, flashed his badge to try and get back in after being ejected and called a black officer an “Obama,” according to the Cape Cod Times.

The suspended officer is expected in court Feb. 5 to face the charge.

It seems that (likely soon-to-be ex-officer) Houston will be getting his "paybacks".  Not only did he miss a killer show, but the fine + poss jail time + loss of his job will serve him right!!  HOWEVER, it is way out of line to generalize ALL police officers today as KKK!  I am sure that you are more intelligent than you seem in that racist and completely ignorant sounding remark (krbinc).  WHO ARRESTED HIM?  THE POLICE!!  That's right -- because he deserved it!  I am glad that you are black and enjoy rock music -- I do too -- rock on!  However, writing that kind of BS about police officers in general is truly offensive.  I'm white -- love Metallica too -- also would have kicked someone's ass for pissing on me.  I am also a cop -- I voted for Obama and am proud that this country is moving forward -- please don't spout off that kind of "COPS ARE KKK" BS!!  I am proud to be willing to do whatever it takes (including risking my life) to protect rights (including yours -- YES, I would risk my life to protect yours -- and so would almost all officers that I work with).  So please rethink your position; and move forward with the rest of us in this country.  I apologize for the soapbox - but "** the POLICE" is a masterful lyric, but sucks as a true attitude!!

krbinc - You are a real man for being willing to listen to another point of view and I admire your post simply to apologize.  No apology needed, dude -- your second post made it clear that you don't really feel as "extreme" as the first post sounded.

BTW -- EVERY TIME I see another officer (or read about an officer) doing this kind of thing, I assure you that I (and almost all other cops) are as, if not more, pissed off and frustrated than this appears to make you.  When another guy (or lady) in "blue" does something out of line, it is not only wrong, but it makes all police officers look bad.  Most people (including myself) have had negative experiences to some degree with the police.  Just remember that those are the ones that stick with you because they upset you and didn't seem right.  Hopefully you have had more encounters with the police that went 100% as it should (which is what all should expect) -- those are not the ones that really stick out in your mind and are certainly not the one that gets headlines.  You clearly know what's what deep down -- just don't fall victim to the media who want to tell you that all cops are bad and anti-(whatever group you belong to).

In short: ROCK ON, dude!  Caught the AC/DC show in Memphis since last posting -- they rocked (but not quite as hard as the Met boys, in my opinion).  Those cannons at the end of the show (For Those About to Rock...) still give me chills thinking about them, though...  All is cool, dude.
