Posted on Wednesday February 4, 2009 at 04:54 PM 6 |

Erick Purkhiser, better known as Lux Interior, the lead singer for The Cramps, died because of an existing heart condition at Glendale Memorial Hospital in California Feb. 4, according to a statement.

Purkhiser, 60, led one of the most influential punk bands of the ’80s, ushering in the sounds of psychobilly. Purkhiser and his wife, Kristy Wallace, better known as Poison Ivy, ran the band for about 30 years.

Always loved seeing them live, they played SF for Halloween for many years and it was a great time! So sorry that Lux is gone and I wish Ivy well. RIP Lux

    OMG....NOT LUX!!!!!

I met The Cramps a few years back when they played the Showbox in Seattle after seeing them I don't know how many times and listening to them since...well.....The Human Fly.  Lux & Ivy are really really nice people.   This is about as bad as when John Bohnam, Joe Strummer or John Lennon died.   Defnitely an end of an era.  Lux & The Cramps will be missed
