Neil Young Joins Jazz Fest Lineup

"Shakey" will make his first appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival May 3, adding to an already stellar lineup of artists scheduled to take over Fair Grounds Race Course April 24-26 and April 30 to May 3.

Already on the jam-packed bill are Bon Jovi, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, Sugarland, Joe Cocker, Ben Harper, Tony Bennett, Earth, Wind & Fire, Kings Of Leon, Neville Brothers, Wilco, Bonnie Raitt, Allen Toussaint, The O’Jays, Erykah Badu, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Dr. John and many others.

    I agree that there's nothing jazz about the Jazz Fest, but I'm most concerned about the fact that Bon Jovi is going to be there *shudders*

    Plus, I don't think true jazz artists on this bill would make for a successful event, financially speaking. It's all about competition. Coachella was/is supposed to be about lo-fi indie rock bands and electronica/dance artists. But Paul McCartney is topping this year's bill.

    The only 'true-to-its-name' festival out there is San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. They named it appropriately.
