Jill Sobule Fans Pay Off

Posted on Wednesday February 18, 2009 at 05:01 AM Add |

Singer/songwriter Jill Sobule’s new album, "California Years," will be released in April thanks to dedicated fans who have donated a total of $89,229 as of Feb. 16 – more than $14,000 past her initial goal – to cover the cost of recording, distributing, marketing and promoting the album.

A $10 donation earned fans a digital download of the album once released while others coughed up the big bucks, including three fans who donated $5,000 to have Sobule play a concert at their house and one person who donated $10,000 to sing on the album, according to her Web site, Jillsnextrecord.com.

The album was produced by Don Was, who has produced Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.
