Crüe Fest Lineup Revealed

03:31 PM, Monday 3/16/09 7 |   |

Arriving in an ambulance à la Dr. Feelgood, Mötley Crüe held a press conference today at Fuse TV’s New York studios to announce who will accompany the band on its second annual Crüe Fest.

And what a lineup it is – Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils will cruise North America with Mötley Crüe , playing amphitheatres and giving audiences a good dose of old-fashioned mayhem. What’s more, the Crüe will play its first #1 album – Dr. Feelgood – in its entirety every night.

The tour was announced a few weeks ago, but the boys held back on the lineup until today’s press conference.

Arriving at Fuse TV in an ambulance accompanied by scantily clad nurses, the Crüe livened up an otherwise typical lunch hour in NYC. Theory of a Deadman’s Tyler Connolly, Drowning Pool’s Ryan McCombs and John Allen of the Charm City Devils joined the band at the press conference. All three vocalists appear in Crüe ’s new “White Trash Christmas” video as well as the single shipping to radio.

For Theory of a Deadman, Crüe Fest 2 means more cities, more hotels with Mötley Crüe. Theory is currently touring with Mötley and plays New York City’s Madison Square Garden tonight.

“This Saints of Los Angeles tour with Mötley Crüe has been, so far, the greatest rock experience for Theory of a Deadman, and I can happily say that they have been nothing but amazing to us," said Theory’s Connolly. “We so look forward to Crüe Fest 2 this summer and are honored to be part of the best f#@%in’ tour this summer. Period!”

Selected dates for Crüe Fest 2 go on sale to the public March 20 with the remaining dates going up on March 21. A Citi Private Pass presale for cardholders takes place on March 17. Crüe Fest 2 is a Live Nation tour, so you can also scope out ticket sales at the company’s Web site.

“This is what we imagined when we came up with the idea of Crüe Fest last summer – putting together the most kick ass bands on one bill for a day of rock,” said Nikki Sixx. “All the bands on this tour complement the others – musically, theatrically and passionately.”

I also agree with that ,Godsmack was my favorite band until the hiatus for Sully to play poker. Now we will be ripped off at the counter from ticketmaster (bater) with the 20 percent charge just to give you a ticket. Nothing else no ride , no food or drink just a ticket to get in. I say boycott the thieves. It used to be affordable to go to concert now it is a choice between concerts or food for the family for a week...

    Dear Members of Motley Crue:

I am writing to urge you to abandon the naughty nurse themes you have used in promoting "Dr. Feelgood"-related products. I hope you will reconsider linking female sexuality with nursing--a stereotype that has undermined the profession for decades--in the midst of a critical global nursing shortage.

I saw reports about the press conference for your summer 2009 Crue Fest 2 Tour, where you appeared with two women dressed in naughty nurse outfits. I note that this troubling theme is recurrent. In 2007, Vince Neil initially used the idea of naughty nurse waitstaff as a promotional theme for his West Palm Beach club "Dr. Feelgood's" (thank you for abandoning that theme), and Tommie Lee's appearance as "Dr.  Feelgood" in Keith Anderson's 2005 "XXL" video included naughty nurses. It's not clear if the naughty nurses will be along for Crue Fest 2. But since you have stressed that your shows are a way to help fans cope with the lousy economy, we hope you will consider applying that laudable concern for public wellbeing to the nursing crisis, and leave the naughty nurse part out.

Presenting nurses as brainless bimbos reinforces a damaging stereotype. Of course people know these are not real nurses, and presumably most people don't think real nurses show up for work in lingerie-like outfits, looking for sex. But the relentless global linking of the idea of nursing with vacuous female sexuality undermines nurses' claims to adequate resources for education, research and clinical practice, encourages sexual abuse (a major problem for real nurses), and reinforces the idea that nursing is a low-skilled job for women with limited options, rather than a modern life-saving profession for members of both genders. Unlike medicine, nursing remains more than 90% female. And the nursing shortage continues to take lives worldwide.

There really are countless other ways to feel good, and we hope the Crue will consider them. Thank you.
