Timberlake’s 901 Spirit

08:35 AM, Thursday 3/19/09 7 |   |

Move over, Sammy Hagar. Justin Timberlake is bringing his own style of tequila to the party.

Those looking for a potent potable capable of bringing sexy back can watch store shelves for 901, a new two-years-in-the-making tequila carrying Justin Timberlake’s stamp of approval.

What’s with the “901” name? A spokesperson for the singer said it refers to two things. The first is that 9:01 pm “is that time of night when your evening is ending, but your night is just beginning,” according to People. And the second?

It’s also the area code for Memphis, Tennessee – Timberlake’s home town.

The 411 on the 901 is that the tequila will debut in May in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas and St. Louis, appearing wherever fine tequila endorsed by pop stars is sold.

During the 1990s Sammy Hagar began selling a hand-made tequila from a family-owned distillery in Jalisco in his Cabo Wabo nightclub located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. A U.S. importer began bringing Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Tequila to the United States in 1999. Since then, Hagar has been the spirit’s No.1 marketer, and never performs a show without mentioning his intoxicating elixir.

For Timberlake, 901 represents another business venture for the singer, who already has the William Rast fashion line and the Tennman record label.

I agree, I think that's why it took 2 years to make. I'll try it if it's not too expensive, I'm still too cheap to waste my money on NSYNC, including any variation.

The story should include only the words "Move over Sammy Hagar." Just go away already!

I don't think Coors makes Zima anymore.  Besides, as a long-time JT fan, I can tell you the genius beats of Mr. Timberlake sound best when accompanied by a tall cool glass of MD 20-20.
