Scheduled To Appear – 3/23

04:01 PM, Monday 3/23/09 4 |   |

Prince does three nights on Leno and Chris Cornell does two on Carson Daly, but U2 appears only once on Letterman this week. Hmmm… sounds like someone is slacking.

You can imagine how the booker on “Late Show with David Letterman” feels. Leno got the band for an entire week earlier this month, but Dave gets them for only one night. That’s show biz.

Meanwhile, Leno scores Prince for, not one night, not two nights, but three straight nights – March 25, 26 and 27. And Chris Cornell lands on Carson Daly for two consecutive nights – March 24 & 25.

All in all, a good week for music on the TV talkers. Here’s what’s up so far:

Monday, March 23
Playing For Change – “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”
Bloc Party – “Late Show with David Letterman”
Morrissey – “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”
Melanie Fiona – “Last Call with Carson Daly”

Thursday, March 26

THE DAMNED ON CRAIG FERGUSON RERUN THIS FRIDAY IS BY FAR THE MOST INTERESTING AND UNUSUAL.A PUNK BAND THAT NEVER GOT ITS DUE HERE.

ALSO,MAYBE LETTERMAN THINKS MAYBE EVEN ONE MORE NITE WITH U2 IS REALLY PUSHING OUR PATIENCE.I  HOPE R.E.M. IS'NT NEXT FOR OVERKILL AS USUAL.

Heads up that your info was incorrect.  Leno never had U2 in recent months (and still doesn't).  Letterman had U2 for a week in September (the week their new album came out). www.rollingstone.com/.../u2-book-letterman-residency-for-no-line-on-the-horizon-release-week

The U2 episode on Letterman this week is a rerun.  I love your site, but I would double check info before publishing.

The point about double checking info before publishing is well taken, but U2 did a live week on Letterman the first week of March, not in September. As in, three weeks ago.

I do sound like a bit of a hypocrite, don't I?  Yes, what I meant was March.  Thank you.
