It’s the second leg of the band’s North American tour supporting their Grammy-winning album, Death Magnetic. The time period is September through December and the venues are all the indoor sports arenas you’d expect a band of Metallica’s volume to play.
Like the September 14 date at Nashville’s Sommet Center, October 1 in Ft. Lauderdale at Bank Atlantic Center, November 9 in Grand Rapids, Mich., at the Van Andel Arena and December 12 in San Jose at the HP Pavilion.
Other stops include Indianapolis (September 17), Montreal (September 19), Tampa (October 3), Ottawa (October 29) Albany (October 12) and Anaheim (December 10).
Metallica’s first album since 2003’s St. Anger, Death Magnetic has sold nearly 1.7 million copies since its release and has spawned three singles – “The Day That Never Comes,” “My Apocalypse” and “Cyanide.”
Along with a major, must-see tour and a hit album, Metallica also have a few important milestones coming up.
On March 29, Activision releases the long-awaited “Guitar Hero Metallica” video game, which features 28 songs from the band’s catalog. Rock like Hetfield in the privacy of your own home. That is, as long as you touch all the right dots.
Then there’s the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction, scheduled for April 4. The band will have to be on their best behavior for that one.
Or, maybe not. After all, it’s Metallica. They have a reputation to uphold
