Apparently moving the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony back to Cleveland and opening it up to the public was just the shot in the arm it needed.

From all accounts it was a lively affair, with performances by Metallica (featuring both current bassist Robert Trujillo and former bassist Jason Newsted), Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Run-DMC and Bobby Womack.

Speaking of Run-DMC, Eminem made a rare public appearance to induct the groundbreaking hip-hop act and commented on the irony of the band’s 1985 video for “Kings of Rock.”

“The group set themselves up as the gatecrashers of popular music by forcing their way into a museum very similar to the one we’re inducting them into tonight, " Em said. "Run-DMC were told in the video that they didn’t belong in a rock ’n’ roll museum, and 25 years later, man, here we are.”

If you missed the broadcast of the ceremony on Fuse, you can visit the channel’s web site Fuse.tv for highlights or watch a rebroadcast of the entire thing April 11 at 5 p.m. Eastern time.
