Jay Leno Freebie Targets Ohio Town

Posted on Tuesday April 21, 2009 at 09:01 AM Add |

Looks as if Jay Leno is attempting to save the economy one town at a time. Two weeks after presenting his “Comedy Stimulus Plan” to Detroit’s unemployed, the “Tonight Show” host is bringing the funny to Wilmington, Ohio, free of charge.

Leno made the announcement on “The Tonight Show” April 20:

"A couple of weeks ago we were in Detroit. We did these free shows for the folks. We had a wonderful reaction, the people were terrific, so we've announced we're gonna do some more. This time we're gonna go to Wilmington, Ohio. This is the town that got devastated. Remember DHL was there and the whole company just closed up, like 80 percent unemployment. Folks there are having a hard time. They're good folks."

The good time is scheduled for Sunday, May 10, at Wilmington’s Roberts Centre. Oh, and be sure to bring Mom. May 10 is Mother’s Day.

Although it’s a free show, like Detroit, you need tickets to get into the Pepsi-underwritten event. Those will be available at high noon Wilmington time at the venue April 27. Limit two per person.
