Okay, one more “American Idol” piece and then I’ll give it a rest for a while.

Tuesday night’s theme was disco. I have to admit it was entertaining to see performers whose parents were probably still in their teens during the movement’s heyday and who are undoubtedly more familiar with Panic at the Disco than Studio 54 take a stab at interpreting classics by Yvonne Elliman; Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer and others.

As expected, the contestant who fared the best was viewer favorite Adam Lambert with his slowed down version of Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You.”

Tonight however, two finalists will be shown the door with no hope of coming back. The judges used their one shot at overruling the popular vote last week.

And if you’re of a certain age, it’s worth tuning in tonight even if you aren’t a fan of “Idol.” The evening’s guest performers are disco divas Thelma Houston (“Don’t Leave Me This Way”) and Freda Payne (“Band of Gold”).
