09:01 AM, Thursday 4/23/09 2 |   |

Steve Martin is doing a charity benefit to help out the Los Angeles Public Library. However, instead of being funny, Martin is relying on his banjo-playing prowess to raise funds for the worthy cause.

You can read all about the event by clicking here.

Which brings us to today’s big question. Would you pay to see one of the funniest guys in showbiz not acting funny?

Go ahead, cast your vote. And don’t be afraid to add your thoughts to the comment thread.

When the world thinks of Steve Martin, the thought is of comedy, humor , light entertainment.  B U T , Steve IS AN EXTREMELY ACCOMPLISHED BANJO PALYER, has played banjo for 4 decades, is mostly self-taught, very skilled at both claw hammer and Scruggs 3 finger styles, has played with some of the contemporary greats - Bela Fleck, Earl Scruggs, Tony Trischka - and wrote every song in his recent release - " The Crow" !

So , Martin's musical abilities with the banjo is no laughing matter.  He is simply an excellent player and song writer and an great entertainer in yet another field other than laugh provocateur !  All banjo lovers shouldn't miss his " Crow" CD,  and he should command a typical bluegrass concert ticket fare.
