He’s white. He can hold his own with the best of emcees. He even released his debut album on 4/20. But Asher Roth doesn’t want to be confused with Eminem.
Most of Roth’s music deals with topics that wouldn’t be out of place on an album by any band you’d find on the roster of any indie music festival – girls, pot, hanging out with friends.
What helps set the 23-year-old graduate of Pennsylvania’s West Chester University apart is his motivation for doing what he does – he loves hip-hop. If the money follows, then so be it.
Roth, spurred on by fans, even criticized greedy rappers who “don’t share, don’t donate to charity,” with “A Mille Remix,” a freestyle rhyme over the beat from Lil' Wayne’s “A Milli.”
