The festival is a benefit for the California Acoustic Music Project (CAMP), which provides artists in residences to schools on a salaried, ongoing basis through the Americana Project. Along with giving students music lessons, including instructions in songwriting and performance, CAMP also provides instruments, primarily guitars, mandolins and banjos.
Both days of the L.A. Acoustic Music Festival start with noon performances and run through the early evening. Gates open at 11 a.m. each day.
The festival has a great lineup. On Saturday it’s The Refugees, Joel Rafael, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave, Richard Thompson, Natalie MacMaster and Bruce Cockburn.
Sunday starts with the husband and wife duo of Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion followed by Slaid Cleaves, Stonehoney, a Woody Guthrie tribute, David Bromberg, David Lindley and Nanci Griffith.
