The musical guests on “The Tavis Smiley Show” may not sing, but they often reveal things about themselves no one has ever heard before.
The latest artist to sit down with Smiley and shine some light on his past is Prince, who rarely gives interviews.
During his visit to the show, the Purple One revealed that he suffered from epilepsy as a child.
“My mother and father didn’t know what to do or how to handle it but they did the best they could with what little they had,” Prince explained.
So how did he overcome the illness? Would you believe help from friends in high places?
“My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, ‘Mom, I’m not going to be sick anymore.’
“She said, ‘Why?’ and I said, ‘Because an angel told me so.’ Now I don’t remember saying it, that’s just what she told me.”
