Ace BBQs For U

09:01 AM, Friday 5/8/09 Add |   |

Folks may call Bruce Springsteen a friend of the working man, but Ace Enders is the pal of the barbecuing man.

Sponsored by AMP Energy Drink and Denny’s Allnighter, Ender’s upcoming tour is called “BBQ Across America.” Supporting Enders on this hot and smokey romp across the country will be Person L and The Dangerous Summer on all dates, plus The Gay Blades, My Favorite Highway and School Boy Humor on select shows.

Now don’t go thinking this is just a money deal, one of those arrangements where the artist gets a sponsor to underwrite touring costs in exchange for printing a logo on tickets, or hanging a banner on stage. When it comes to barbecue, Enders walks it like he talks it. Or, maybe we should say, his boasts are as good as his roasts.

One hour before each show, Enders and his band, A Million Different People, along with other bands on the bill, will hang out with fans who preorder tickets. Then, after each night’s concert, Enders and his friends will host after-parties at the local Denny’s, as part of Denny’s Allnighter program.

Yeah, we know what you’re thinking, and we agree. It’s high time BBQ and concerts got together. Britney’s shows would go great with BBQ, and we can imagine U2’s Bono flipping burgers over the coals while wearing one of those “Kiss The Chef” hats. Sure, there are BBQ festivals featuring live music, and barbecue sauce makers have sponsored concert tours. But BBQ every night of a tour? Followed by a party at Denny’s after the show? That’s genius.

“The summer tour is going to be awesome,” said Enders, “We’re going to BBQ at every show every day either right outside the venue or in a city it will be in the closest park or area we can do it in. I’m very passionate about barbecuing and this is the most excited I’ve ever been for a tour. I can’t wait to meet new people and hang out with all of our old fans and all of the other awesome bands coming along on the tour.”
