Rundgren’s people are saying this will be his only U.K. performance, and his first since 2008’s "Arena" tour.
Rundgren released A Wizard, A True Star one year after his double-album set Something / Anything. While the latter featured pop songs like “Hello, It’s Me,” and “I Saw The Light,” Wizard showcased his psychedelic side, with each track segueing into the next and instances of sound effects and spoken comments worthy of a Pink Floyd album.
Tracks included “International Feel,” “You Don’t Have To Camp Around,” “Just Another Onion Head,” “Zen Archer,” “When The Shit Hits The Fan / Sunset Boulevard,” “Sometimes I Don’t Know What To Feel,” “I Don’t Want To Tie You Down” and “Just One Victory,” which became Rundgren’s / Utopia’s standard concert closer for many years following the album’s release.
Then there are the cover versions of songs other rockers wouldn’t touch during the early ‘70s, such as Rundgren’s rendition of “Never Never Land” and a medley featuring lush arrangements of “Ooh Baby Baby,” “La La La Means I Love You,” “I’m So Proud,” and “Cool Jerk.”
The February 6 concert will come in two sets with Rundgren playing highlights from his career during the first and the entire Wizard album during the second. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 27 at 9 am (London time), and are priced at £48.50, £45.00, £40.00, £32.00, which works out to about $75.44, $70, $62, and $48 U.S.
