Test Your Rock ‘N’ Roll Mettle With The Pedal To The Metal Tour

05:01 PM, Friday 6/5/09 2 |   |

Starring Mudvayne and Black Label Society and including Static-X, Suicide Silence, Dope, Bury Your Dead and the Hellzapoppin sideshow revue, this could be the loudest, baddest tour of the summer.

They’re calling it the “inaugural” Pedal to the Metal Tour, which probably means that, if this one is a success, fans can expect a second annual run next summer. We’re talking metal music as it’s meant to be played – thunderous, sweaty and dangerous – with a lineup meant to excite the fans and scare the piss out of their parents.

The tour kicks off in the Atlantic Northeast region on July 24 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. From there it rumbles into Lowell, Mass., on July 25 for a night of flailing decibels at the Tsongas Arena. July 28 brings the tour to the Sovereign Center in Reading and July 29 is Youngstown at the Chevrolet Center.

Other stops include Battle Creek at Kellogg Arena Aug. 5; Topeka at Landon Arena Aug. 11; Missoula at Ryan Creek Amphitheatre Aug. 19; San Jose at the Civic Auditorium Aug. 28; San Antonio at Sunken Gardens Sept. 5 and Oklahoma City at the Zoo Amphitheatre Sept. 9.

“The tour started as a summer tour with us and Black Label Society, but as we started fleshing out ideas, it transformed into this really cool concept,” Mudvayne frontman Chad Gray said. “We’re really excited, because this package is a merging of great bands, good people and fu**ing amazing fans. It’ll be great to bring them all together.”

Here’s the ticket skinny: Presale tickets are available to all bands’ fan club members beginning Wednesday June 10 at 12 p.m. local time at the tour’s Web site – www.pedaltothemetaltour.com – which goes live the same day as the presale. General public onsale begins Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. local time.

    Ahem...in the headline?

    It's METTLE. Not MEDDLE.
