Rioting In Chicago & L.A.

08:01 AM, Tuesday 6/9/09 Add |   |

The bad news: Fans wanting to get their hands on $99 five-day passes for the fifth edition of Riot Fest in Chicago will be disappointed to learn the tickets sold out after just a day and a half. The good news: Los Angeles will hold the inaugural Riot Fest West this November.

Chicago’s Riot Fest takes place Oct. 7-12 at venues across The Windy City including Congress Theatre, Metro, Double Door, Subterranean and Cobra Lounge.

A press release for the fest noted the event’s 5th birthday is a big deal. Since kicking off in 2005 Riot Fest has racked up 25,336 fans, featured “over 150 bands, 946 stage dives, 4 asshole bouncers, 2632 cases of beer, 172 hours in line, 1 FBI Sting, 23 business suits and too many broken ribs.” Whew.

Here’s who’s on this year’s lineup so far: Screeching Weasel, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Murder City Devils, The Dead Milkmen, and Cock Sparrer. More artists will be announced June 18 for a total of 14 shows.

A limited number of five-day passes went on sale Saturday for $99. Lucky fans that snagged five-day passes before the tix sold out will have the chance to win tickets to one of four secret shows between August and October.

Regular ticket sales begin June 20 at 12 p.m. CST.

Riot Fest West goes down in Los Angeles Nov. 12-14 at Palladium, The Wiltern, Key Club and The Roxy. The line-up will be announced soon.
