Jackson will take a break from arenas and perform at the club tomorrow, the day before this year’s CMA Music Festival kicks off.
"It's just something we wanted to do," Jackson said. "We've got about 50 hits, so it's hard to do them all. We'll try to pick a few that the crowd might like."
Since signing with Arista Records 20 years ago this month, Jackson has released 13 studio albums, two Christmas albums and a number of compilations. The singer has 50 million albums under his belt as well as fifty-six singles.
He also has been recognized for countless awards from a Grammy for Best Country Song for 2002’s “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)” to Country Music Association male vocalist of the year in 2002 and 2003.
Jackson said he has four or five tunes written for his upcoming album and he’ll probably start recording this summer.
"I think every album you have, especially if it's done well, you feel like you're competing with yourself," he said.
His most recent album is 2007’s Good Time, which includes three No. 1 singles – the title track, "Small Town Southern Man" and "Country Boy."
After catching Jackson’s free show, country fans can stick around town for the CMA Fest, which runs June 11-14. The fest features performances from artists including Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Julianne Hough, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Wynonna, Montgomery Gentry and Reba McEntire.
