Born To Dive

Posted on Thursday June 18, 2009 at 10:01 AM Add |

Bruce Springsteen has been asked to delay the start time of his show when he and E Street roll into Rome on July 19.

Turns out the show at the Eternal City is scheduled for approximately the same time as the finals of the women’s 10 meter platform diving in pairs at the world championships, which take place within earshot of the venue.

According to SwimNews.com, the diving competition starts at 7:30 p.m. while Bruce and the band are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m., which means the chances are pretty good the ladies will still be diving at the same time “Badlands” wafts through the air.

However, Rome 2009 organizers and the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) are trying to persuade Springsteen to delay his show by one hour.

Considering Springsteen shows almost always begin as late as 30 minutes to an hour after the printed time on the ticket, talking him into adjusting the start time shouldn’t be much of a problem.
