It’s not a bunch of pro ballplayers making like rock stars in their spare time. The White Sox All-Star Band is made up of musicians you already know (or should know) and the group is playing a special benefit for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The benefit takes place on Sept. 6 in Cary, N.C., at the Booth Amphitheatre, and will also feature performances by Darryl McDaniels, otherwise known as D.M.C. of Run-D.M.C.; Patty Smyth and Scandal; Blessid Union of Souls; Nine Days; Freddy Jones Band; Atlanta Rhythm Section; Georgia Satellites and 94 East.
The White Sox All-Star Band emerged from the popular fantasy camp series where fans get the chance to live out their rock ‘n’ roll dreams. Yes drummer Alan White leads the group which also includes Queen keyboardist Spike Edney; Queen and Mike & The Mechanics guitarist Jamie Moses; former Journey lead singer and current Trans-Siberian Orchestra vocalist Jeff Scott Soto; Jimi Hendrix emulator Randy Hansen; rock violinist Geoffrey Castle and progressive rock bass guitarist and White Sox co-founder Bernt Bodal.
