Getting Intimate With A Cranberry

11:01 AM, Friday 7/10/09 Add |   |

With a new album coming out in August, Cranberries star Dolores O’Riordan has lined up a series of North American dates for September and October, possibly playing a theatre near you.

The new album – No Baggage – is set for an August 25 release. Described as a “bright, clean sound,” No Baggage was co-produced by O’Riordan and Ontario-based Dan Brodbeck, who co-wrote all the songs with the Cranberries lass.

“I probably haven’t worn my heart on my sleeve like this since the second Cranberries album [No Need To Argue].” O’Riordan said. “It’s at times very confessional and dealing with my true emotions. Everyone, through their experiences or their background, has had terrible moments where they think they can’t handle it. With this record I’m trying to show that, no matter how bad things may seem, it’s not really that bad in the big picture.”

The North American tour is being promoted as “An Intimate Acoustic Evening With Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries.” Starting in Montreal on Sept. 23 at Club Soda, look for Ms. O’Riordan to play the Phoenix in Toronto Sept. 24; 9:30 Club in D.C. Sept. 26; Boston’s Paradise Sept. 27; World Café Live in Philly Sept. 28 and City Winery in NYC Sept. 30.

October stops include Rochester, N.Y., at Water Street Music Hall Oct. 1; Milwaukee at Northern Lights Theatre Oct. 3; Chicago at House of Blues Oct. 5; Minneapolis at Fine Line Music Café Oct. 6; Denver at Gothic Theatre Oct. 8; San Francisco at Great American Music Hall Oct. 11 and West Hollywood at House of Blues Oct. 12.
