According to promoter Donnie Frizzell, the “size of the festival necessitated the change.” Tickets for the original venue will be honored at the relocated rock extravaganza.
The new location is 110 miles south of Minneapolis and 135 miles north of Des Moines, putting it just south of the Minnesota / Iowa border.
“This is the first four-day mega rock, outdoors festival in the world that has aligned itself with a major casino location,” Frizzell said. “We want to offer all concertgoers the ultimate experience to fulfill all of their entertainment desires. This is something Rock Gone Wild as an intellectual property will roll out in 2010.”
The festival will post a list of hotels in the Clear Lake / Mason City and Albert Lea areas on its official Web site this week.
Rock Gone Wild is a veritable Valhalla for folks who like their music cranked up past 11. This year the festival features appearances by Saxon, Jackyl, Warrant, April Wine, Puddle Of Mudd, Saliva, Saigon Kick, Cherie Currie, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Lita Ford, Dokken, Great White, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Candlebox, Sevendust, Saving Abel, Eve 6 and Tantric, plus all the bands from your teenage years that made your parents cringe in fear thinking you were headed for a life of debauchery.
Tickets, including VIP, platinum and general admission, are currently on sale, and there will be RV and camping sites available. Just remember: This year’s Rock Gone Wild is Northwood, not Algona this year.
“The move allows us to consolidate our festival operations into one premium site that is located just off a major highway,” Frizzell said. “We will be able to set up stages in one venue instead of two, and can use the hotel and casino to accommodate the bands, media and also give fans something to do after the music stops.”
