Musso Looks Beyond “Montana”

Posted on Tuesday July 21, 2009 at 12:01 PM Add |

Disney Channel star Mitchel Musso is leaving “Montana” behind, at least temporarily, as he hits the road this summer in support of his self-titled debut album.

Musso, best known to Disney viewers as Miley Cyrus’ sometimes best friend Oliver Oken on “Hannah Montana,” kicked off his tour last week in his home state of Texas.
During the 38-city trek, the singer will alternate between headlining his own gigs and opening nine shows for Metro Station, which features his brother Mason as well as Cyrus’ stepbrother Trace.

Joining Musso on his headlining dates in cities like Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Dallas and New Orleans are quickly rising female rockers KSM.

“Montana” fans worried that Musso’s musical career will mean the end of Oliver Oken can relax. Although his character has been switched to recurring status for the upcoming fourth season of the show, the singer recently told TV Guide he had no intention of leaving.

“In the last episode of Season 3, Oliver leaves on a six-month tour, so I might miss the first couple of weeks of [Season 4],” Musso explained. “But other than that, you’ll see me. And I’ll be back with a lot more music. So yes, I’m taking a little time off to work on my music, but I have a bunch of new acting gigs coming up, too. I can’t talk about them just yet, but keep your ears open.”
