Phish Announce Festival 8

11:01 AM, Friday 7/24/09 2 |   |

It’s two great Phish traditions in one – festivals and Halloween – as the band announces Festival 8, a three-day extravaganza scheduled for Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif.

In case the location doesn’t ring a bell, it’s where the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festivals and the annual Stagecoach festivals are held every year.

Festival 8 contains a few significant Phish firsts. It will be the first three-day Phish festival, and it’s the first time Phish has done one of its famed festivals on the west coast. It’s also the first time a single band has played consecutive dates at the Polo Field, which in Phish’s case works out to eight sets by the band during the course of the event.

Tickets are priced at $199 and go on sale Monday, July 27 at 10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time at Music Today. Daily parking is free, but it will cost you $15 per car and $125 per RV if you want to camp onsite. Along with Phish, expect other attractions and art installations.

Festival 8 marks the first Phish fest since the band’s 2004 Coventry blowout.

“We are pleased to support this event,” said Glenn Southard, Indio City Manager. “It will bring thousands of visitors to the City of Indio and to the Coachella Valley and will provide a much needed boost to our local economy. We look forward to a great event!”

I will not be attending so long as Jon Fishman is in the band. He needs to be nicer to fans. Trey, Mike and Page are very fan friendly.
