The Sounds Heard Round The World

12:01 PM, Friday 8/7/09 Add |   |

After completing an arena tour with Fall Out Boy and a three-month amphitheatre run with No Doubt, Swedish New Wavers The Sounds are gearing up to conquer the globe with a massive 75-plus date headlining tour in support of latest release Crossing The Rubicon.

The trek kicks off September 11 at Downtown Quebec in Quebec City and will see the quintet on the road throughout the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Europe through mid-December.

North American stops include Roseland Ballroom in New York City (Sept. 17), Rams Head in Baltimore (Sept. 20), Variety Playhouse in Atlanta (Sept. 26), La Zona Rosa in Austin (Oct. 9), Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (Oct. 21), First Avenue in Minneapolis (Nov. 5) and Vic Theatre in Chicago (Nov. 7).

European destinations include France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Poland, Denmark and Finland.

Support for the tour will come courtesy of Foxy Shazam in North America and Matt and Kim in Europe, along with guest DJs.

Tickets for the entire run go on sale August 8.

Rubicon, which was released in June, is the follow up to 2006’s Dying to Say This to You and was written and recorded with help from producer Mark Saunders (Erasure, The Cure, Shiny Toy Guns), as well as former Smashing Pumpkin James Iha and Fountains of Wayne and Tinted Windows bassist Adam Schlesinger.

The album has drawn praise across the globe, with Spin lauding The Sounds for their “smart, perfectly calibrated indie electro” and Alternative Press singling our their “chic new-wave synths, glittering hooks and pop-savvy beats.”
