Aerosmith’s Hawaiian Punch

Aerosmith may perform in Maui in late September or early October in order to honor a court settlement, despite Steven Tyler’s broken shoulder and subsequent cancellation of the remainder of the band’s latest tour.

The band canceled the remainder of its summer Aug. 13 after Tyler took a spill onstage in Sturgis, S.D., Aug. 5 that left him with 20 stitches in his head, a broken shoulder and neck injuries.

Attorney Brandee Faria, who represents thousands of ticket holders who sued after the band canceled an island concert two years ago, told the Star-Bulletin she’s been assured by Aerosmith’s counsel the band will perform on a yet-unspecified date in the fall.

“The cancellation of the tour and the planned Hawaii shows are like apples and oranges to a certain extent,” Faria told the newspaper. “Part of their court settlement was to do a performance in Hawaii at the conclusion of this tour and, under the terms of the settlement, Aerosmith is committed to coming here.”

However, attorney Jay Handlin, representing Aerosmith, said that the makeup date will depend on how soon Tyler can heal.

He told the Star-Bulletin that while the settlement agreement includes a concert to make up for the canceled 2007 date, “the band will honor the commitment [for the Maui concert] as soon as reasonably possible,” given Tyler’s injuries.

Faria added that if Tyler’s bumps and bruises keep the band from performing, “The band’s defense counsel will have to come forward to the court to explain and plea their case.”

Gee--wouldn't it just be easier to refund the ticketholders their money? If I remember correctly, this Hawaii show was orginally cancelled years ago because the band took a more lucrative Private Corporate Gig instead. Payback's a ***, boys!!

I applaud Hawaii for holding to their guns with this band.  Have held ticket for last three tours in N. California and they postponed and canceled first tour, second tour rescheduled three times before finally doing the show (they looked like they did not want to be there that evening, as last date of tour, expected better for the inconveniences of rescheduling show), then they canceled the Aug 19th show of this tour,  to which I held tickets.  I have wasted the last of my money on these guys.  Love the music, but  won't waste my money on tickets as they FLAKE OUT when they hit the West Coast.  Next time start your tour on the West Coast and have the East Coast see what you have done regularly to your fans out west.   I stand behind the fans in Hawaii, make them live up their contract and commitments.

I wish some media outlet would check out and make public what the Aerosmith fan club is doing.  They STILL have not refunded tickets purchased through AeroforceOne for the shows.  This mostly includes high priced meet and greet tickets pluc concert tickets, some packages worth over 1,000.    The tickets purchased through venues directly, or ticketmaster, etc, are already refunded and cards credited.  But AFI keeps saying blah blah blah up to 60 days.."we are waiting for the venues to reimburse us...etc."    ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET OUR MONEY???  It seems that perhaps Steven and Joe should cut the crap with the interviews for the time being and start talking to their fan club about reimbursing the fans and keeping us happy...its sure is giving the band a bad name.  This the the THIRD time in the past 5 or 6 years that I have had an Aerosmith concert cancelled,  and so I won't even try to go in the future.  But lucky for me I have seen them earlier in my life.  But, bottom line,  I have never gotten tickets from the fan club until now, and I have never had as many problems getting a refund as I have now.   Hoping someone will pick up on this story and maybe do an article for tv news spot about the LACK if refunds from AFI for the cancelled concerts???
