Musicians Thank Volunteers

10:01 AM, Monday 8/31/09 Add |   |

Gavin DeGraw, The Roots and Anjulie are among the musicians who will take time next month to thank those who’ve volunteered their time in service of the country.

The show will take place Sept. 11 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre and is meant to honor volunteers who’ve answered President Obama’s call to service as well as those connected to 9/11 – relatives of victims, recovery workers and those who’ve served in the military since then.

This year marks the first time Sept. 11 is being recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Those connected to 9/11 and volunteers will be the among the first to receive free tickets, with a limited number of additional tickets being offered to the general public via a lottery.

Also on the roster for the evening so far are host Gary Sinese, Jimmy Fallon and the Harlem Boys and Girls Choir.

Anyone interested in attending can register their request for tickets at 911Dayof Service.org/tribute.

Those without access to email or the Web can obtain a printed ticket registration request form by calling event co-organizer MyGoodDeed at 212-613-4979.

Tickets may not be sold or transferred to others, and a government-issued photo ID matching registered names will be required at the door.
