Relient K Tour Dates Aren’t Slowing Down

08:01 AM, Thursday 9/3/09 Add |   |

Relient K is wrapping up 2009 with a bang. The pop punk Christian band has a busy schedule up ahead from releasing the band’s sixth studio album to two upcoming North American tours and a number of Australian dates.

On Saturday the guys play the “Revelation Generation” festival in Frenchtown, N.J., along with artists such as Switchfoot, Norma Jean, The Devil Wears Prada and Impending Doom.

Then it’s off to Australia with shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Sept. 11-19.

In October Relient K will hit the road for a “A Three Hour Tour” along with Copeland and Barcelona.

The tour kicks off Oct. 1 at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Conn., and wraps up Oct. 24 at The Pageant in St. Louis.

Additional shows include Paradise Rock Club in Boston (Oct. 4), Rocketown in Nashville (Oct. 11), Ogden Theatre in Denver (Oct. 16) and Warehouse Live in Houston (Oct. 20).

The following month the band joins tobyMac, Relient K, Stephanie Smith, B. Reith on the “Winter Wonder Slam” tour, which begins Nov. 19 at Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa., and concludes Dec. 20 at US Airways Center in Phoenix.

The tour also makes stops at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York (Nov. 20), Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh (Nov. 22), Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash. (Dec. 10) and Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif. (Dec. 17).

Relient K’s sixth studio album, Forget and Not Slow Down, is set for release Oct. 6. The album is the band’s first on the newly revived record label Mono Vs. Stereo, in conjunction with Jive Records.

“We definitely wanted to make a rock record,’” frontman Matt Thiessen said. “We wanted it to be uptempo and energetic. As far as the sonic aspect, we wanted to make it less modern sounding, with classic rock textures – Counting Crows, Foo Fighters, those kind of ‘90s albums. That was a good time for rock ‘n’ roll.”

Forget and Not Slow Down is available for preorder for $9.99 on the band’s Web site. The site also features "In The Studio" webisodes for a behind the scenes look at the making of the album.
