‘VH1 Divas’ Adds More Girl Power To The Mix

06:01 PM, Tuesday 9/8/09 Add |   |

VH1 has added a number of superstars to this year’s lineup of “VH1 Divas,” including inviting Cyndi Lauper to make her third appearance on the series. You’ll also see performances from Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge and Martina McBride.

Pollstar previously reported that the 2009 edition of “Divas” will include Leona Lewis, Adele, Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus singing their hearts out. The show will be hosted by one of America’s favorite divas – singer/producer/dancer/choreographer/actress/former judge Paula Abdul.

The VH1 special, which takes place Sept. 17 at the Brooklyn Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, N.Y., will be televised live on VH1 at 9 p.m.
Presenters include Kathy Griffin, Toni Braxton, Ryan Kwanten of HBO’s “True Blood”, reality stars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port and the cast of the upcoming “Fame” remake (Asher Book, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Kherington Payne, Naturi Naughton, and Walter Perez).

The last time VH1 aired its “Divas” special was back in 2004. Previous VH1 divas include Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Cher, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston, Beyonce and Chaka Khan.

Who is your favorite diva and who do you think should be featured next on “Divas”?

VH1 is inviting fans to send in testimonials or “Diva Stories” through text or video “that tells the world how their favorite divas have influenced their lives” from favorite songs to the craziest thing they’ve done to prove their devotion to that special singer.

Select testimonials will be featured online and on-air in the lead up to this year’s special.
