Bridge School Lineup Revealed

Posted on Monday September 14, 2009 at 05:01 PM 2 |

One of the most-anticipated music events taking place in the San Francisco area every year is Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit. Although the dates for this year’s event were announced a few weeks ago – Oct. 24 & 25 at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre – the official lineup was not announced until today. And what a lineup it is.

Of course, there’s Young and his wife Pegi. That’s a given. However, this year’s Bridge School sports a very impressive and varied list of artists and bands, including No Doubt, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Fleet Foxes, Monsters Of Folk and Gavin Rossdale appearing on both days.

(Update: As Pollstar user Kinks notes below, we inadvertently missed listing Wolfmother as also appearing both days.  Our apologies.)

Jimmy Buffett appears only on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Adam Sandler makes one appearance – Sunday, Oct. 25.

All proceeds go to the Bridge School, an organization working to educate children with severe physical disabilities and speech impairments. Pegi Young organized the first Bridge School benefit in 1986.

Tickets go on sale this Sunday, Sept. 20, are priced at $150 and $75 for reserved seating and $39.50 for general admission. Four-packs of general admission tickets can be purchased for $99. There is a two-ticket limit for reserved seats and an eight-ticket total purchase limit.

I'm gonna have to beg to differ with "and what a lineup it is." I had been going to the Bridge School Benefit religiously for years, but this is the second year in a row I might sit it out. Neil seems to be more interested in attracting the 17-26-year-old crowd more than he is in putting together a stellar lineup.

They need to have someone willing to sit on the lawn for 10 hours...
