Pizza Their Heart

Posted on Thursday September 17, 2009 at 01:01 PM Add |

Red hot electronic-rockers Infected Mushroom believe the way to fans hearts might be through their stomachs. So they’ve come up with a tasty way to introduce their latest release "Legend of the Black Shawarma" – pizza.

Erez “I.Zen” Eisen and Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani have teamed up with southeastern pizza chain Mellow Mushroom to introduce the Legend of the Black Shawarma pizza.

The Middle Eastern-influenced promo pie features olive oil, feta cheese, black olives, tomato, onion, shawarma chicken, mozzarella cheese and cucumber, all topped by a hummus drizzle. Sounds pretty darned delicious.

The campaign begins Sept. 29, when select Mellow Mushroom restaurants in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida will begin delivering their pizzas in specially stickered boxes which will point customers to InfectedMushroom.com/MellowMushroom where they’ll be able to access a free download.

Duvdevani said he believes Infected Mushroom and Mellow Mushroom are a perfect match because Black Shawarma is food inspired.

“There’s a lot of material about getting your grub on,” he explained.

Duvdevani and Eisen will also be taking over Mellow Mushroom’s radio network the day the promotion kicks off, playing cuts from the new album and some of their faves by other acts during a 90 minute set that kicks off at 7 p.m. EST.

Black Shawarma, which was released Sept. 8, is Infected Mushroom’s seventh full-length release and features the talents of Korn’s Jonathan Davis, Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell and international superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold, who produced.

Here’s the video for “Smashing The Opponent” with Davis on vocals.

In case you’re not lucky enough to live near a Mellow Mushroom, you can also catch Infected Mushroom on the road this fall at places like Atlanta’s Tabernacle (Sept. 26), NYC’s Terminal 5 (Oct. 3), the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (Oct. 24), House of Blues in Chicago (Nov. 14) and Avalon in Los Angeles (Dec. 19).
