Morrissey B-Sides & West Coast Tour

01:01 PM, Friday 9/25/09 1 |   |

The last time Morrissey was in the states he interrupted his Coachella performance to complain about the festival’s BBQ offerings, gagging and ranting that he could “smell burning flesh, and I hope to God it’s human.” Leave the meat at home because our favorite vegetarian has just announced a round of fall West Coast dates.

The West Coast gigs kick off Nov. 29 at Paramount Theatre in Seattle and conclude Dec. 11 at Majestic Ventura Theatre in Ventura, Calif.

Additional dates include Roseland Theatre in Portland, Ore. (Nov. 30), Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. (Dec. 5), Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego (Dec. 8) and Gibson Ampitheatre At Universal CityWalk in Universal City, Calif. (Dec. 10).

Before Morrissey plays the U.S. he has a month full of U.K. and European dates on the books. The first leg of the U.K./European tour ran April through July and the British singer and his band will return to his home digs Oct. 23 with a performance at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, U.K. The tour wraps up Nov. 23 at National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The former Smiths frontman will also play shows in the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Germany.

After releasing his ninth solo album, Years of Refusal, in February, Moz will release Swords, a compilation of B-sides, this fall.

The album contains 18 songs released as b-sides to his 13 hits singles from his last three albums (Years of Refusal, 2006’s Ringleader of the Tormentors and 2004’s You Are the Quarry.)

The collection includes a live cover version of David Bowie’s 1973 tune “Drive-In Saturday” (with the lyrics name dropping The New York Dolls instead of the Rolling Stones) in addition to Chrissie Hynde singing backing vocals on “Shame is the Name.”

A limited, special edition of Swords will include a bonus disc with eight live performances recorded during a July 7 show at Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland early this year. The live performances features tunes from Morrissey’s last two albums as well as 1994’s Vauxhall And I and The Smiths’ “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby,” which hails from the group’s 1986 B-side collection The World Won’t Listen.

I think I'll sneak in a turkey leg to munch on during the encore. And maybe some chicken nuggets...no no wait, a corn dog
