The festival scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Belmount Country Club in Ashburn,Va., was originally scheduled to take place Sept. 19 but was moved to October on account of rain.
But it took more than predicted precipitation to postpone festival plans. The event, featuring Counting Crows members Adam Duritz and David Immerglück and former Blue Oyster Cult member Joe Bouchard playing their own songs as well as interpretations of Federici compositions and Springsteen tunes, was to benefit local charities through the Loudoun Foundation.
According to the Washington Business Journal a shaky economy put the kibosh on the event.
One of the sponsors, The Casey Group, announced the postponement in an e-mail sent on Tuesday.
“Sadly, these difficult economic times have forced us to postpone this fun and important festival and we plan on regrouping, reorganizing and hitting the ground hard in 2010 with a great lineup of shows.”
Tickets, which were priced at $30 in advance, $35 at the door, will be refunded.
