Pavement Curating ATP 2010

05:01 PM, Thursday 10/8/09 Add |   |

After announcing last month that Pavement was reuniting after nearly a decade for a worldwide reunion tour, the ‘90s indie rockers have been revealed as the headliners and curators of Britian’s All Tomorrow’s Parties fest.

The festival takes place May 14-16, 2010 at Butlins Minehead in Somerset, U.K. The coastal town of Minehead is located about three-and-a-half hours from London.

Pavement’s lineup will include Stephen Malkmus, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, Mark Ibold, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West. As far as the rest of the event’s lineup – well, that’s up to Pavement to decide. We’ll report back to you as soon as the performers are announced.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. Early bird tickets are available for £150pp (US $241.04) room only and £160pp (US $257.11) self catering until Oct. 16, unless they run out first. Full price tickets are £160pp (US $257.11) for room only and £170pp ($273.18) for self catering. The ticket price includes not only your ticket to the show but accommodations as well. The “room only” option offers double, single or bunk beds with a private bathroom and TV. This option includes between two and six beds in the room. “Self catering” includes offers a private bathroom, full kitchen facilities and separate lounge area with TV. The "self catering" option includes four, six or seven beds in the room.

A second ATP festival weekend will be held May 7-9, 2010. The curator will be announced next week.

All Tomorrow’s Parties was founded in 1999 and has taken place in the U.S., U.K. and Australia. Past curators have include Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus, The Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Mike Patton & Melvins, Explosions In The Sky, Pitchfork Media, Portishead, Dirty Three, Sonic Youth, The Shins, Sleater-Kinney, Dinosaur Jr., Devendra Banhart, Mudhoney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Mars Volta, Vincent Gallo, Slint, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Mogwai, Tortoise, Shellac, Autechre, Modest Mouse and Simpsons' creator Matt Groening.

After headlining ATP, Pavement is set to perform a four-night set at Central Park SummerStage at Rumsey Playfield in New York, Sept. 21-24.

Pavement was founded in Stockton, Calif., in 1989. The guys played their last gig together at Brixton Academy in London Nov. 20, 1999. Along with the announcement of the reunion tour, Madator Records warned fans “this tour is not a prelude to additional jaunts and/or a permanent reunion.” The band is also expected to release a compilation album sometime next year.
