GNR For Kids

01:01 PM, Tuesday 10/13/09 2 |   |

Rockabye Baby!, the company that makes lullaby renditions of rock songs, has really outdone itself this time by transforming 12 Guns N’ Roses classics into tunes guaranteed to lull your little ones to sleep.

To be honest, we never imagined “Welcome To The Jungle” and “Mr. Brownstone” as appropriate lullabies for babies. That is, unless the infants hail from the Manson Family. Evidently Rockabye Baby! really loves a challenge.

The album – Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Guns N’ Roses – lands in stores Nov. 10 and includes all the GNR a baby could ask for, with glockenspiels, vibraphones, harps, bells and Mellotrons replacing thundering guitars, pounding drums and Axl Rose.

To be sure, there are several GNR songs that might lend themselves to lullaby cover versions and Rockabye Baby! appears to have covered all the bases by including the hits as well as the band’s softer numbers.

The album begins with “Welcome To The Jungle,” followed by “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City.”

Then there’s the old Paul McCartney & Wings tune “Live & Let Die,” which Guns N’ Roses covered very well back in the day. Other tunes getting the lullaby treatment include “November Rain,” “You Could Be Mine,” the aforementioned “Mr. Brownstone,” “Estranged,” “Yesterdays,” “Don’t Cry,” “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and “Patience.”

Obviously missing are GNR tracks like “I Used To Love Her” and “Get In The Ring.” Oh, well, maybe next year.

Rockabye Baby! has pretty much carved out its own marketing niche by creating lullaby versions songs by U2, Green Day, AC/DC, Pixies and The Beatles. You may not want Axl Rose babysitting your kids, but you’ll enjoy sending your little ones to dreamland accompanied by the sounds of “Paradise City” and “Estranged.”

After all, they’re the tunes that made Axl Rose the man he is today.

Can anyone say S.I.D.S.?  More lawsuits coming Axl's way!

I suppose its got Axl's voice but no other original members so he gets performance royalties? It'd be great if Slash had the rights to do instrumental versions by orchestras and the like so Axl won't get performance royalties.Heck,if he gets songwriting credits for lyrics, maybe he'd get zilch since they are'nt used?! Hehe.
