Lady Gaga News: It's Alive!

10:01 AM, Thursday 10/15/09 2 |   |

Lady Gaga fans bummed out by the cancellation of her tour with Kanye West have reason to celebrate today: Lady G has announced dates for a solo run that kicks off late next month.

Gaga will unveil her latest creation, The Monster Ball, Nov. 27 at The Bell Center in Montreal and spend the next eight weeks on the road, wrapping with a pair of shows Jan. 20-21 at Radio City Music Hall in her hometown of New York City. Joining Lady G on all dates will be red hot hip-hop artist Kid Cudi.

The singer said the show was originally designed to premiere next year at London’s O2 arena, but “due to diligent work and preparation,” will open early. The sure-to-be-over-the-top extravaganza is described as “a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever ‘pop electro opera.’”

Lady Gaga will also be re-releasing her smash debut The Fame next month as a special edition album dubbed The Fame Monster. The re-packaged collection will include eight new songs, including “Bad Romance,” the single Gaga debuted during her stunning “Saturday Night Live” appearance Oct. 3.

The singer encouraged fans to study up before they come to The Monster Ball, saying, “The Fame Monster will come out four days before the first live show. You have exactly 96 hours to learn all of the lyrics so you can sing along. Dress accordingly.”

Fans can probably also expect some surprises from Lady G during her upcoming tour. Like the one she pulled last weekend when she performed at the 13th annual National Dinner of the Human Rights Campaign.

President Obama kicked off the evening by joking, "It's a privilege to be here tonight to open for Lady Gaga ... I've made it."

Later on, Gaga took the stage in a simple black dress and sunglasses and announced, “I'm not going to play one of my songs tonight because tonight is not about me, tonight is about you." She then launched into a version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” that featured lyrics that paid tribute to Matthew Shepard and addressed the struggle for equal rights for the LGBT community.
