Def Leppard Cancels Tour

12:35 PM, Friday 10/16/09 5 |   |

Def Leppard has unexpectedly pulled out of the third leg of its 2009 North American Tour with Cheap Trick less than a week before it was scheduled to begin.

A message from the band posted on its Web site says the run of dates, which was set to kick off Oct. 22 at the Reno Events Center in Nevada, was cancelled “due to unforeseen personal matters.”

“We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans,” the statement continued. “That’s why we’ve agonized over this decision. Even if just a single concert, we don’t take canceling shows lightly, but unfortunately life’s commitments need to be the priority.”

Reps for the band contacted by Pollstar were unavailable for further comment at this time.

Fans with tickets for any of the more than 20 shows on the schedule are advised to seek refunds at point of purchase.

Joe Elliot can't sing anymore! I saw them this summer in Auburn, Wa. and he was horrible. The band tried to back him up, but the voice was gone. Wasted  money. Thanks for a fun career though. Pete Willis rocks!

Unforseen personal matter?  You mean lagging ticket sales - just say what it is!!!

Def Leppard is offically dead. Last good show was 2004. Joes voice is gone. There cockiness finally caught up with them. Rest the voice and maybe interact with your fans before they all leave! Thanks for all the great shows in the 80s and 90's and early 00's.

I heard Vivian Campbell's father just passed away.

    That's a tough time for anyone ...

Elliott's voice didn't sound so great last time we heard them either, it was OK, but not great and we've seen them pretty much every tour that  comes through Detroit, except the last one with Poison.

From what I've seen others say, he clearly has his good and his bad nights ...

Still, 30 years in the game, he's not done too bad, eh? ;-)
