In yet another sign that music licensing – for television in particular – is quickly becoming an accepted and lucrative outlet for artists to release new music, Bob Dylan and a host of other big named acts have signed on for a soundtrack for CBS’ hit show “NCIS.”
“NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack – Vol. 2” features brand new and previously unreleased cuts from Dylan, Norah Jones, John Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow, Joss Stone, Sick Puppies, Saosin and others.
To coincide with the Nov. 3 release of the album, that evening’s episode of “NCIS” will prominently feature Dylan’s “California,” which has been kept under wraps since it was completed during the Bringing It All Back Home sessions. Additional songs will be featured in episodes throughout the rest of the season.
